Maggie Clegg

Maggie Clegg has been an educator since 2015, first in Columbus, Ohio and recently at Community Roots, a Roots ConnectED learning site, since 2018 where she currently teaches third grade. Through her early work with refugee communities she began to recognize the essential need for belonging and representation as families faced great inequity in the education system and community at-large. Maggie believes in the UDL framework for teaching and learning not only as a way to better understand her students and their needs, but also as a strong framework to better understand herself as an educator. Maggie believes that an inclusive model of education relies on the interconnectedness of the diverse humans in which it serves, offering chances to learn, play, love, and grow together through an anti-bias approach to curriculum. Maggie believes that her work with Roots ConnectED allows continued opportunities to share practices that center equity, supporting educators to deepen perspective on communication, empathy, and justice.
