His stories have been featured in the Washington Post, The Moth Podcast, Speak Up Storytelling, Love Hurts Podcast, The Womanity Project, and Writing Class Radio. Devan’s story, The Loudest Whisper, was selected to accompany a story told by Rev. Al Sharpton for Black History Month 2020. Devan is also the founder of Unreeling Storytelling, a New York City-based personal storytelling show that provides a platform for the repressed perspectives of people of color, women, and other under-represented populations. Devan tells many stories from his struggles as a black man growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood in Southern California, moving to New York City, and traveling internationally in Europe and Asia. After a reserved childhood, Devan found his way to the stage where he learned sharing his truth lightened the burden he felt while carrying his pains alone. After witnessing the lasting emotional impacts of bias and trauma on children, Molly was moved to explore a path in psychology and made the transition from classroom teacher to the world of therapy in 2020. She currently attends graduate school and works as a therapist in Los Angeles, California. Nic Birondo Nic Birondo has been working with young people for close to 25 years and served as a middle school teacher for 11 of those years. He has worked to create spaces for students to share about their lives, knowing that the classroom can be a powerful place for people to learn about themselves and their own communities. The heart of his work has been around creating learning experiences that empower students to think critically, challenge inequity, and to create change in their own neighborhoods. Nic has helped facilitate anti-bias learning spaces for young people and adults, in and out of the classroom, including a multi-school teacher group focused on using mentorship and restorative practices to address social and racial issues amongst a cohort of students. Nic earned his Masters in Teacher Education from the University of San Francisco. Tanishia has previously served as a principal, superintendent, and university professor, and her scholarship has been featured in peer-reviewed journals, public policy briefs, and national media. Tanishia holds multiple graduate degrees, including a Ph.D. in Public and Urban Policy, and Master's degrees in data visualization, organizational theory, education leadership, and education policy analysis—each grounding her in the theoretical, practical, and visual dimensions of systemic inquiry and change.
