Millen Tesfaldet
Millen Tesfaldet has been an educator at Community Roots in Brooklyn, New York, a Roots ConnectED learning site, since 2014, where she teaches 1st grade and has focused on developing and revising curriculum. Millen began at Community Roots as a paraprofessional for two years while completing her M.S.Ed in special education/inclusive elementary from Hofstra University on Long Island. Millen has taught in high impact ICT classrooms utilizing various co-teaching approaches and using the Universal Design for Learning framework to meet the needs of all her students. She has designed and revised units that guide students to explore issues of identity, power, perspective, and access. Millen strives to create an inclusive classroom where students’ needs are met and everyone feels welcomed.
