Sahba Rohani
VISIONARY LEADER. COMMUNITY BUILDER. BRIDGE ACROSS DIFFERENCE.
Sahba is the Executive Director and co-founder of Roots ConnectED, an initiative launched in 2017 to transform schools and workplaces into communities where belonging, equity, and connection thrive. Her passion for this work stems from a foundational belief in the essential oneness of humanity—a principle that guides her leadership and every aspect of Roots ConnectED’s programming, growth, and development.
Before founding Roots ConnectED, Sahba spent over a decade at Community Roots Charter School in Brooklyn, NY, a pioneer in the intentionally diverse school movement. Starting as a founding teacher in 2006 and later serving as Director of Community Development, she designed programming that engaged staff, students, and families in building integrated, anti-bias school communities through professional development, curriculum design, and supporting impactful shifts in culture. Her work is featured in the book A Smarter Charter.
Today, Sahba leads Roots ConnectED’s strategy while working alongside a team she describes as brilliant, dedicated, and deeply collaborative. She speaks nationally on education and racial justice, has shared her story in her TEDx UNYP talk How I Came to Accept My Name, and serves on the Thirteen/WNET Educational Services Advisory Committee, advising PBS on the educational needs of its audiences.
