Cheyenne Sookoo

STORYTELLING STRATEGIST. COMMUNITY CONNECTOR. CREATIVE BRIDGE BUILDER.

Cheyenne is a multidisciplinary creative, minority-owned business owner, and community engagement strategist who uses storytelling, art, and digital media to bring people together. With a background in marketing, education, and the arts, she works at the intersection of creativity and connection to help amplify voices and build meaningful communities.

In her role as Community Engagement & Social Media Coordinator at Roots ConnectED, Cheyenne helps share the organization’s mission through thoughtful storytelling and digital strategy, highlighting the voices, experiences, and ideas that help communities grow in belonging and understanding.

Her perspective is also shaped by her experience growing up in an immigrant family, which has influenced how she approaches questions of identity, belonging, and community in both her creative and professional work. For over seven years, Cheyenne has worked closely with children as an educator and creative mentor, using art to expand their imaginations, build confidence, and encourage them to see the world — and themselves — in new ways. She has also participated in humanitarian volunteer work and community outreach both locally and abroad, helping people find meaning, dignity, and connection through love expressed through education, service, and teaching.

Cheyenne joined Roots ConnectED because she believes that when people feel truly seen, heard, and valued, they are empowered to grow, connect across differences, and help build communities where everyone belongs.
